FTP, which is short for File Transfer Protocol, is the most popular means for sending files to a hosting account. Using an FTP client application that’s pre-installed on your desktop or laptop PC, you can make a connection to your hosting server and copy all of the files that you need with a couple of mouse clicks. You can do this using a simple-to-navigate interface and it is as simple as dragging & dropping the files in question. The advantage of using File Transfer Protocol is that you are able to create separate accounts, each with a different level of access to your web space, so if you need to grant someone access, for example – a web designer, they’ll be able to access only a specific folder and won’t be able to view the remaining web content or any other information, such as personal details. Three things are necessary in order to be able to establish an FTP connection – a hostname, which is normally an IP or a domain, a username and a password.
FTP Accounts in Shared Hosting
You can set up as many FTP accounts as you like with each of the Linux shared plans that we offer, since we have decided not to restrict this feature. In this way, you can have multiple Internet sites at once or grant other people access to multiple directories. As soon as a certain task has been completed and you do not want that person to be able to connect to your files any longer, you can edit the password associated with the given FTP account or you can just remove the account with a few clicks of the mouse and stop worrying about someone using it once again. The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which is offered with all shared web hosting packages, will permit you to view the complete list of the active FTP accounts displayed alphabetically. It takes only one click of the mouse to administer various options for any of them – to modify the password or the access path, to download an auto-configuration file, etc.
FTP Accounts in Semi-dedicated Servers
Our Linux semi-dedicated servers are exceptionally powerful, which makes them perfect for hosting a vast number of Internet sites. Speaking of which, we have chosen not to set a limit on the number of FTP accounts that you can set up, so you can have a different FTP account for each Internet site that you host on our semi-dedicated servers. All FTP accounts will be shown in alphabetical order in the respective section of the Hepsia Control Panel, which is included with each semi-dedicated account. For any of them, you will be able to see the access path and to change it, if needed. What’s more, you can set up a new account in an FTP client of your liking by downloading an auto-config file and running it on your personal computer, which will save you time. In case you’ve never opened a web hosting account previously, you can check out our detailed how-to video clips, which can be accessed through the very same Control Panel section.
FTP Accounts in VPS Servers
With a VPS server from us, you’ll get the opportunity to set up unlimited FTP accounts to connect to your web content. This is valid for all virtual server plans, no matter which Control Panel you have chosen during the VPS order process – cPanel, Hepsia or DirectAdmin. Depending on your necessities, you can set up a different FTP account for each site or several accounts with access to a specific folder – in case you want to allow several users to be able to connect to that folder using their very own log-in credentials. Even if you have never had a web hosting account before or in case you’ve only used a shared one, you won’t have any difficulties creating, removing or editing any FTP account on the VPS server, as everything is done through an intuitive interface and takes just a few clicks of the mouse.
